We’re a couple weeks into 2011, but I never wrote a formal list of New Year’s resolutions. I don’t know if I should call these “resolutions” so much as “things I really want to do.” That being said, here’s my list:
Things I Want to Do in 2011
- Read more books than I did last year. (See +11 in ‘11 Challenge.)
- Related to the above: clear out at least one row (level? shelf?) from my To Read bookcase. This means either reading the books and deciding to keep them, or letting go of books I know I’ll never read, or giving away/selling/swapping books that I will have read and don’t want to keep. Last year I used the library quite a bit, so it was probably the least amount of book buying I’d done in years. I used to buy, buy, buy new books, but of late I buy fewer books than I used to. (Progress!)
- Blog more often, at least every other day. I used to be so prolific at this, but since joining Twitter, I’ve neglected my poor blog quite a bit.
(Sidenote: remember the earlier days of blogging, way before Twitter/Facebook/Myspace/any of that stuff? Back when you were more likely to handcode your HTML and it was a giddy thing to design a new layout? Staying up late, into all hours of the night, designing said layout? I remember logging into Greymatter [and later Movable Type] to post a one-line entry, people! Look, I love Twitter, but sometimes I pine for the good ol’ days. But I digress…)
Lately I feel like I have more to say (about knitting, books, makeup, random whatever), so you get to read even more of my babble in 2011! Yay, right? - Sew more. I sewed hardly anything last year, and I really want to make the freakin curtains that I’ve been procrastinating making for months. I have all the fabric I need, just need to make myself sit down at the machine and do it.
- Pay off at least one of my credit cards / Control my spending better. If I don’t have the cash to buy something, it’ll have to wait until I do. This is one of the toughest items on this list, but I KNOW I can do it.
- Take more pictures! (*waves at kc*)
I joined the Project 365 group on Flickr, the premise of which is to take one photo every day, for 365 days. That’s quite a challenge for me, since I usually only get my camera out a couple times a week…but I think I can do it! I just need to pick a start date. (There’s a variation of this challenge where you take a self-portrait once a day for a year, and haha no way! I hate taking SPs!) - Go to Maryland Sheep & Wool festival. This will be my second time going. I had so much fun last year, so I’ve already started saving my pennies in preparation! *pokes kc again*
- Visit the Poe Museum (in Richmond! That’s like…only two hours away, woot!). There’s a special event there on the 15th, Poe’s Birthday Bash, and I really want to go.
- Find a new job. I “resolve” to do this every year, but THIS TIME I MEAN IT. No, really.
- I tried to think of one more thing in order to make this an even 10, but um…I can’t think of anything else, so that’s my list for now.

Great list! Can’t wait to see more pics
3) I have been thinking about the past of blogging a lot lately! it used to be something I LOVED but now… ehh. but I feel funny w/out one! ahh yes… Greymatter! oh… I had that crap mastered! hehe.
4) I keep seeing everyone turning to quilting and sewing and it’s so tempting…
6) YES. please start your 365 soon!!
you could start feb 1…?
7) YES YES! I’m hoping I can tuck away some of my tax return… I’m not a huge shopper but I will need money for food, etc, too!
9) I think we both say this every year…
haha it changed my number 8 to the sunglasses guy
kc: oh Greymatter, I just think of all those templates! Changing layouts was just a pain, haha! Yeah, I think I might start my YIP on 2/1, just because it’s a nice day to start…I really should’ve started in January, but oh well. I’m going to squirrel away part of my tax return, too! That’s what I did last year and I had plenty of $ for MDS&W
