Someday I will write a post that is not meme-related, but since this one requires me to explain myself, I guess it’s ok.
Found at A Knitted Frenzy:
Why did you start a blog?
Everyone else was doing it! baaa. Really. Of course, this was back in the late 90s or early 00s maybe, before I knew what a CMS was and I wrote my entries in HTML. I think the first blogging software I used was Greymatter (with all those lovely templates you had to change every single time you changed your layout and got the dreaded cgi-bin error of death)! Anyway, all my life I’ve loved to write and my blog has basically (unfortunately?) taken the place of a handwritten journal.
How did you come up with your blog name?
It is shamelessly lifted from the song “Good Day” by Jewel.
Do your friends and family know about your blog?
Very few people do, mostly friends.
How do you write your posts?
Stream of consciousness, I’m pretty sure.
Have you ever had a troll or had to delete unkind comments?
I get the random commenter every once and again (not including spammers). I have, occasionally, decided to delete comments that I found offensive in some way. One in particular that comes to mind is a comment someone left me just as I was beginning to go through my divorce. It was so judgmental and just…rude! From someone I used to be friends with but had lost touch with, no less. For a long time, I left the comment on the post but a few months ago, I finally deleted it. I figure, it’s my blog and I reserve the right to delete comments that are just plain rude!
Do you check your stats? Do you care how many people read your blog? If you do care, how do you increase traffic?
In the early days, I checked my stats daily–sometimes several times a day! I also didn’t have a life! Remember proudly displaying your hit count via Sitemeter?
I check my stats once in a while now, mainly to see where my referrals are coming from. Since I joined Ravelry, the bulk of my visitors come from there. Also from my regular readers.
And there are always the weird spam referrals.
What kind of blogs/posts interest you?
Knitting, dogs, reading/books. Anything that is well-written, well-expressed, and makes me laugh or think in a way other than just skimming past the paragraphs in order to clear my feeds in Google Reader.
What do you like/dislike about blogging?
Even though I don’t advertise my blog to my family and certain other people, I hate the feeling that I need to censor myself sometimes. Just on the off-chance that someone somewhere will read something I didn’t want them to. I guess I’ve gotten used to putting on my best face when I write. Also, I don’t want to seem whiny/bitchy/complainy all the time, either. On the other hand, I love the fact that people (no matter how few!) are actually interested in the things I write and say and knit and return to lend me their ears–and eyes–that’s pretty cool. ![]()
