…first, do not post any spoilers, as I just started the book this afternoon! (Acquired before the Great Book Buying Fast of 2008. Thanks again, Annie!
)
…second, if you haven’t read it, don’t read the rest of this entry because I might spoil something for you!
ok, I’m only in chapter two or something, but I’m already confused. So Henry is capable of time traveling but Clare is not. ok. So how does she know things from his/their shared future, even though the first part takes place in 1991? Did he tell her about the future and that’s how she knows? But when they meet in 1991, he doesn’t remember their future…or was he just pretending not to know/remember? gah!!
Maybe I’m just not getting it yet–or maybe this will be revealed later–but I am confused already! ![]()

It’s confusing at first - just keep on reading! Henry isn’t pretending not to know Clare - he’s never met her before that first meeting in the library. But Clare HAS met him before - the FUTURE him who time traveled back to her during her childhood. But that Henry doesn’t exist yet. Clare has memories of Henry that Henry hasn’t lived through yet. Does that help at all?
Wonderful book. I’m actually just planning to pick it up and re-read (well, audiobook) it for the third time.
ok–that makes sense! I think! Thanks
all i’m going to say is have kleenex handy at the end. it’s definitely a cool book, though. i may have to put it in my queue again!
I think I’m going to like it–I love tear jerkers!
Just keep reading!
Isn’t it funny her name is Clare. Let us know if you like it. I’ve picked it up and put it down a number of times at the book store, couldn’t decide.
