As you can see…I was just hired for the library job! SQUEE!

I’m scheduled to start November 1, though we still need to work out the details of when I’m going to be trained since I’m keeping my day job. (Which, apparently, the head librarian didn’t understand until now. I thought I had made that clear but now I think about it, we must have had a miscommunication.) She said not to worry about it, though, that we would get it sorted out between now and the 1st…phew!

I’m so nervous!! And kind of in a daze. Come the 1st, my free time is going to be non-existent, at least until I get into the rhythm of my new schedule. oh boy.

But yay! Thank you for all the good vibes…they totally worked!

Now here comes the buzzkill…how the heck do I tell my parents that I just got hired for a second job without them having double heart attacks?

  1. yay! And good luck with the folks!

  2. congrats!

how about this? just dont tell them and let them think you are out doing “things” every night of the week… and then when they are having heart attacks for that… then it wont be that bad when you say, “guys, i got a second job!” it will be like an instant good thing compared to probably whatever they had in thier minds LOL

  3. awesome! :) hmm… well Nov 1 is still a bit aways away. I’d say, wait until you are just about to work (like, maybe the day before) and just say something like, Oh, I will be home later tomorrow - I’m going to help out the library a little in the evenings. ? would something like that work? make it sound casual and like not a big deal. I think they’d be more likely to overreact if it’s something where you are like, I have to tell you something or We need to talk.. you know?

  4. hurrah!!!!
    congrats!

  5. congratulations!!! :D

  6. Congratulations on the new job!

Good luck with telling your parents. :( Remind them of why you are doing it.

  7. Way to go!!!!

  8. I feel all esp…I saw your blog all bolded on bloglines and as i was clicking it “I got the job” flashed through my head before I saw your title.

    YEY YOU!

Mention it casually to your mom. She seems to react better about these things, right? Or lie and say you’re “volunteering” and then in a few weeks say they like you so much they are going to pay you and give you regular hours.

    good luck.

  9. Congrats on the job!! I agree with KC … if you don’t make it a big deal in telling them, hopefully it will be less of a Big Thing to them! Good luck with it!

  10. Congrats! :D

  11. Congratulations!

I’m on the don’t-make-too-big-a-deal-of-it-bus. It seems like it might work best with your parents.

Soooo awesome, though! Jobs are good.

  12. tell them you had to get a second job in order to afford the training you had to put autumn through because they couldn’t control the dogs while you were gone. guilt soup them right back.

good luck saving up to move out!

  13. Yippee! Congrats! I’m sure things will get worked out and you’ll be all set. :)
