nervous.

I am SO nervous about my job interview Tuesday morning. I’ve been thinking about it all weekend, ever since they called me to schedule the interview.

And I finally got some smarts (ha) and decided NOT to tell my parents about the interview. I figure, if I don’t get the job, no harm and no foul. I don’t need them telling me their opinions if they are moot anyway, like what happened last time. If I DO get the job, well then I’ll tell them. But for now, they are on a need-to-know basis with me. And that’s the way it will have to be.

But man, I am soooo nervous about tomorrow! My interview is at 8, so I’m going to get there about 7:50. I’m sure the interview won’t last too long, but I have to be at my regular job at 8:30, so I think it will work out. The interviewer already knows I have a day job, and was clear that this position is evenings and weekends, exactly what I’ve been looking for. But my nerves! I keep telling them to calm themselves, but it’s not working.

I always stress over things. Important, and not-so-important. If I get this job, it would be REALLY, really, REALLY good for my future. If I don’t…it’s back to the drawing board. ack!

Have I mentioned that I am nervous??

Good luck with that interview! Make sure your zipper is up and your socks match. Unless, of course, you want to be that kooky girl. :)

Advice from the HR department (or what I have learned being a temp.):

    Arrive 15 min. early.
Think about concrete examples that show:
    - How good you are in public service situations
    - How well you handle tense situations
    - How you diffuse bad situations
    - How you have followed company policy—I almost blew my library position because I forgot the first part of the question: Library policy states anyone can check out any item, no matter what. If a 9 y-o came up to check out an adult-oriented book, what would you do. The answer, of course, is to follow policy and let them have it. What you do in reality, they don’t have to know. :)

The posible list is endless, but just have examples.
Also, come up with questions for the interviewer. GO TO THE LIBRARY TONIGHT and check out the people…then you can ask questions like, what is the usual number of clientel during the night/weekend hours? How busy does it get? Are there projects you can give me for the weekends?
    etc.

    Good luck!

Take a deep breath. Relax. And be yourself. You will be great.

I’m sure you’ll do fine! :) Just show interest, be friendly but businesslike, be yourself :) I know some questions I am almost always asked are the typical “what are three of your best qualities” “what are three of your worst qualities” “what did you like/dislike about your last job” — that’s the one where they try to getcha!
