Thanks everyone for playing along and guessing how much sock yarn I have in my stash. There were 62 people who commented, and some of you even guessed the same number! (I had a back-up plan in case there was a tie…but thankfully for me, that didn’t happen, hehe) And what is it about the number 42? Someone clue me in on the joke!
Anyway, as I was taking out all my sock yarns so that I could photograph them, I realized that I don’t have nearly as much as I was afraid of. I mean, I have a lot…but not even 100 skeins. Just barely over half that!
The winner, with a guess of 58, is……
crochetcompulsive! You are the big winner!
Check your email, I just need your snail mail and your choice of which yarn you want.
squee!

I’m guessing everyone reads Douglas Adams.
He said the answer to everything was 42!
…they were geeky-licious references to the Douglas Adams books. Lucky for me y’all had already guessed that over and over and over or it would have been my guess too.
But WHOO HOO! I pulled 58 out of the cosmos instead!
While I love me them all, I can’t ever pass up orange, and omg, orange lisa souza???? no question. i will love it and kiss it and name it george. and it can play with my paltry 3 other skeins of sock yarn until it’s fate declares itself.
sassenach, your domain-o-versary rocks!
am sending you an email post haste!
Yeah, 42 is a Douglas Adams thing
Good job crochetcompulsive!!
And I’m so very glad mub.net was born!
As mentioned above, it’s a reference to Douglas Adams’ “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” In one of the stories, the people ask the Super Computer, “What is the meaning to Life, the Universe, and Everything?” The Super Computer eventually spits out 42 as the answer.
You must read “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”. It is a funny read and I am sure you would enjoy it.
Man, I’m so out of the loop. I need more pop culture in my life.
Congrats, cc!
