I guess the Academy Awards are tonight…? I used to watch the show every year, but in recent years I’ve just shrugged them off and read the recaps the following morning. Besides, I’ve hardly seen any (if any!) of the films nominated this year.
Speaking of movies, I watched SherryBaby. YUCK. I did not like this movie at all. Maggie Gyllenhaal was good, though I could have done without seeing her topless that many times, ahem. And the story was just sad and depressing and I really, really need to stop renting depressing movies! lol So if you have any suggestions for nice, funny, HAPPY films, please share.

have you seen 50 first dates??? it’s really good…. not adam sandler’s usual stuff. i like garden state too… i like action movies like borne identity and borne supremacy or oceans 11 and 12… i have mr. and mrs. smith sitting here from netflix… we need to watch it soon. there some ideas tho!

I just watched the Guardian, which I thought was ok- easy to get into, cried a bit, enjoyed it, for the most part.
DEFINITELY see The Others if you missed it when it first came out- I think you’ll love it!
Little Miss Sunshine! I love that movie.
Little Manhattan is really sweet, probably the cutest movie I’ve ever seen. The 40-Year-Old Virgin is really funny.
That’s about all I’ve got, I’m not really helpful with movies. I tend to watch a lot more tv shows (The Office is hilarious, and the new Doctor Who is good if you have any interest is cheesy, funny British sci-fi)

Hitchhiker’s Guide and 200 Cigarettes are movies I’ve watched recently that I liked. I tend to avoid any movies that are purposefully heartwrenching (you know, sad just to be sad) or depressing because life is depressing enough! Other funny/good movies you might want to watch: Young Frankenstein, Nanny McPhee, Love Actually, Sense and Sensibility (with Emma Thompson… hmm… those last three movies have her in them, ha!), Saved!… have you seen any of those?

I was trying to think of a few other purely funny ones… have you seen all of the Will Ferrell movies like, Old School, Anchorman, Talledega Nights, etc? Those all make me happy! Oh, and it was kind of cheesy, but still fun and happy was the new version of Around the World in 80 Days with Jackie Chan
