Stephen King's story is definitely inspiring. I keep thinking about that, and I feel less depressed about my letter. :) I still have one piece out right now that I haven't heard back about yet, so...we'll see...

I think I will keep this letter, just for kicks!

I don't have the exact quote in front of me, but I read about Mr. King's writing history. He was rejected about eleventy million times before Carrie. He was ready to throw in the towel and get a job at a box factory or something as he and his wife were on their last pennies when the deal came through.

Your first? You frame it. Or Scrapbook it. Or simply scrap it. Personally I keep all the rejection letters: college, scholarship, grad school, divorce papers...it's all a part of my history. That sounds egomaniacal, but sometimes, to keep that ego on a level ground (for me), it's good to have such things filed away. It keeps everything in perspective.

Nowhere in that letter did it say one tiny thing about your writing sucking! They even call you "Poet" which I think is neat. :) I think it is awesome you sent in something - that's a bit of a leap for anyone, to put something out there like that, so brava on that!
