snow!

It’s 27 degrees outside and snowing. Snowing! SNOWING!

As such, all of us get to come in an hour later to work tomorrow morning. Extra sleep! A bit, anyway. Got to scrape the snow off my car. Even though I park under a carport/overhang thing, it’s so windy that the snow has covered my windshield, hood, and windows. It’s crazy! And I’m crossing my fingers that my ice scraper is still either in my backseat/floor area, or in the trunk…doh…

holiday cheer!

So far, the only holiday cheer I’ve felt is with regard to one package in particular I’m putting together for a certain someone who reads this certain blog who will feel certain delight when she receives her Christmas package from me!

And indeed…as I wrote in one of the last lines, life is a strange concoction of late. Ever-shifting. Maybe getting better. Possibly? I can’t type it here–it hurts my brain to attempt to process it all–I will probably write it out by hand in my journal, just to get it out. Suffice it to say, though, that all things happen for a reason.

That being said, go print the form and write your own!

The ‘net has been pretty quiet this weekend, at least in bloggyland. Is everyone still reeling from the turkey anesthesia? btw, I did go over to my coworker’s house and we had a nice Thanksgiving meal! :) I’m so glad I went. We watched a movie and I didn’t stay long–I got SO sleepy, even after only a few pieces of turkey. But otherwise, still a nice time. At least I wasn’t alone.

I’ve also finished my first ever knee sock! *happy dance* And in efforts of avoiding the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome, I cast on the second one already and I’m halfway up the foot (doing toe-up again). woo. hoo! I’m hoping to finish this one faster since I know all my counts and increases, etc., and of course I will post a photo once the pair is done.

oh yes, and go here to score yourself some Lime & Violet yarny goodness. I already bought something…ahem…as if I needed more yarn. But that never stopped me before. ;)

I decided that I’m definitely going over to my co-worker’s house tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Maybe I’ve had my fill of lonely holidays, or something…but just the thought of being alone tomorrow really unnerved me, so I’m giving in. It will just be her and her husband, so I’ll be plenty comfortable. :) If it were some huge social gathering, however, I probably wouldn’t go…I can’t stand large crowds of strangers! Well, her four cats will be the only others there, but I’m sure I can manage being around them. :lol: Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

happy feet.

Happy Feet I guess if life is going to suck, one might as well have cute shoes, hm?

I ordered some Keds Mary Janes to better show off my handknit socks. :) They’re cute! I think I need to break them in a wee bit–they’re size 8.5 and fit pretty well with socks on, but I’m hoping they will loosen up a little.

And I am *still* chugging away on my Brick House knee sock! Last night, I tried doing ribbing instead of increases, and got about 13 rounds done till I realized I just did not like the way it looked (because of where I had started the ribbing). So I went to bed, figuring I would fix it this afternoon. haha…I actually got out of bed, went back to my sock, and ripped it all the way back to the start of the ribbing. :D I continued in stockinette and am doing increases every three rounds up the calf. And can you believe it, I didn’t drop any stitches! I think I’m getting better at frogging. :)

That’s the true profile of a knitting addict–getting out of bed to fix a project, fixing it successfully, THEN having the peace of mind to go back to bed and fall asleep. :lol:

I’m trying not to think about Thanksgiving much. The girl I work with, bless her heart, invited me over to her house when I told her today that the husband isn’t coming home this weekend. I think I might go…I really don’t want to be alone. Not on Thanksgiving! Besides, I’ve been wanting to meet her four crazy cats, hehe. I think I need to be a little less anti-social every now and then.

oh, and because kc asked what I’m knitting that hasn’t been photographed yet: a skinny Branching Out scarf, a very plain shrug (with the would-be black yarn for Shimmer), and a pair of arm warmers that have since been frogged entirely. sigh. Knitting is hit or miss sometimes!
