knit for sanity.

Clapotis #4 WIP I’m knitting my fourth Clapotis. I can’t finish my Three Inches Left to Go on the Second Sock Jaywalkers, but I can knit four Clapotis. I’m weird.

This is another mini, in Knit Picks Memories sock yarn, Redwood Forest colorway. I bought the yarn on a whim and planned to use them for socks, but when it arrived, I knew it was perfect for Clapotis. I really think that Knit Picks should redo the photos on their site–everything always looks SO much prettier in person!

Anyway, I’m knitting this on size 4 needles to pattern specs; I’ve done 8 out of the 12 repeats on the drop stitches section. I’m hoping I’ll have enough yarn–I only bought two hanks, since I had planned to do socks–and I think I will have enough.

btw…thanks for the comments on my previous entry. I am knitting for my sanity, and I really appreciate all the good thoughts you’ve sent my way. :)

Your new Clapotis looks absoloutely splendid! But that is not consolation enough for the months to come, I guess. They shoud send all spouses on a three month long spa retreat to compensate for all those lost holidays, AND to preserve your sanity

You’ve done 8?! I’ve only done three! I’m jealous! I am definitely starting to struggle a little with this pattern, but I need to get it done for my aunt’s birthday!! :)

Emma: now THAT would be a terrific compromise!

Annie: Not 8, just 4! :D

Nadine: the pattern is so addictive, I must admit!

Tammy: it’s a mini since I’m using fingering weight yarn on smaller needles (as opposed to worsted weight on size 8s). I thought 440 yards would be enough on size 4s, but I have run out! So I ordered more yarn…and I’m probably going to go up to a size 6 or 7 needle in order to get the length I want. Does that help? :)

hmmm. so 430 yrds of worsted on size 8s wouldn’t work. i wasnt sure if by mini, you meant a shorter version of the normal clapotis or not. is this a pattern where you could increase with half of your yarn and start decreasing on the next half? i may have to find different yarn! lol… i just bought this lamb’s pride cotton fleece at a lys that was going out of business. i got all they had but they didnt have much… i walked in 5 minutes before they locked the doors for good. :D

Yeah, the pattern calls for approx. 615 yards of worsted weight. Have you read the end of the pattern? It gives instructions on how to make a “smaller scarf” (it’s at the very end, under Finishing).
