One of the perks of being an English major and taking all my classes online is that I was automatically rostered into an online club for English majors. Kind of geeky, yes, but how fun to sort of socialize with other geeks. 
Where else but an English club would someone get my “Callooh! Callay!” reference**?
It was through the English club that I found out about Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society. I applied for membership and found out today that I was accepted! 
I’m bummed I won’t be able to wear the cool red and black honor cords at graduation–I strongly doubt I’ll be able to make it to Maryland for the ceremony. Still, it’s cool to be in an honor society, if for no other reason to say, hey! People think I’m smart. 
The joke in our English club is the acronym for Sigma Tau Delta: STD. ahem. Unfortunate, but it does give a chuckle.
I’ve never been the sorority type anyway, so honor societies are more my cup o’ tea. Along with STD (yuk yuk), I’m also a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda. Not a sorority either–another honor society.
It’s nice to know I kind of do fit in–with the other geeks.

I was in NHS in hs and the Honors whateveryouwannacallit in college, but that’s about it. I definitely wasn’t one for that sorority thing, either, that’s for sure!
