Options Mosaic I’m not at all embarrassed to be excited over knitting needles. As a complete knitting geek, this is like Christmas for me, seriously. So indulge me. :)

So, all the buzz (in the knitting world) over Knit Picks Options needles that I’ve heard has been nothing but rave reviews. And of course I caved and bought them myself. I got the prepackaged set and also the size ID tags.

Everything fits so perfectly into all the pockets, and the binder is quite sleek looking, actually. It’s probably just a day planner with the calendar taken out and the Knit Picks logo on the front, but hey, it looks great and functions either way. :D

I lovelovelove the feel of the needles themselves. I’m an Addi needle fan, but Addi tips are not pointy at all (particularly on larger sizes), so knitting lace or cables is sort of tough on Addis. Well, the Options needles have totally one-upped Addis. The Options tips are nice and pointy…I can tell already that they will work fantastic for lace.

Also, the cable cords are more flexible than Addis as well, so people who like to knit circularly using Magic Loop will love these. (I might have to pick up Magic Loop myself, as I always preferred dpns but these might change my mind for circular knitting.)

Let’s not forget that Addis aren’t exactly cheap, and the whole Options set of 9 different sizes, cables, case, etc., is all there for $59.99. It would probably cost about twice that to purchase all the same sizes in Addis. Nice deal!

Now enough raving about these, I should probably go cast on and test drive them, yeah? :D I’ll probably have a post-use review, hehe!

They sound so great! So the prepackaged set and the ID tags is sufficient? That seems like the easiest way to get everything you need (especially if you were going to get your not-computer-or-knitting-saavy family member to buy them for you haha).

The needles really do look so nice and sharp. That is very important! And I think the little planner-like case is cute :) Yes, yes, go knit with them!

Yeah, I think the set is the way to go. I rarely knit with 13, 15, or 17, which are available separately. The only thing is that the tips aren’t available smaller than size 4, which means that sock knitting (via Magic Loop or two circs) is impossible on these. But for everything else…sweaters, scarves, whatever…these really are perfect! hehe, and that would make it easier for non-knitters to buy them for you! :D The ID tags aren’t necessary, but I’d be going crazy trying to remember which sizes were which, so I think they are definitely helpful.

I have officially knitted with them! :) Just as I thought, they are *fantastic*! The tips really are the best thing about them, I think!

I’m so jealous that you got these needles. I’ll look forward to hearing though how you like knitting with them…that’s the TRUE test.

I have a set of them too, I absolutely love them and won’t knit on anything else. For the smaller sized needles, I’ve bought there circs. Recently I did some socks on size 1 with 2 cables. 1 knit picks, 1 addi. I decided the knit picks circs to be superior in that the point is sharper and being a tight knitter, I was able to knit faster with them. I also love the cable…so much more flexible.
    IMHO

The pointy-ness is my favorite part of the Options needles. :)
